JASON NOEL GREY
Jason Noel Hinton Grey also known as Greystorm was introduced to music at the tender age of 10 years old. It was a Casio keyboard from his mother that started his love for piano. By the age of 19 Grey had a talent for playing the piano by ear and continued to develop his piano skills at Kenwood Academy in Chicago. He quickly excelled at various creative mediums such as sketching, graffiti, break-dancing, free-styling and more.
His last year of high school Grey advanced into playing rigorous pieces of work from J.S Bach, Franz List to Herbie Hancock which in return developed his career as a music producer. In 2010, Jason put his talent and hard work to the test and entered into his first beat battle. He succeeded in getting crowned 2010’s Fresh Produce Beat Battle Champion.
In that same year, he got the chance to work exclusively with Jira Productions--one of Chicago's premier music houses for commercials and voice overs that produces work for McDonalds, Toyota, Allstate and more. It was from this opportunity that forged his first sale for a McDonalds radio ad and an official co-writer music credit for the movie “Dysfunctional Friends”.
In 2014 Grey decided to move back into his indie roots and partner up with Chicago artist Sohje Johnson and Abstrak Mind to produce the sound for 2014’s critically acclaimed album “ Still Painting”. Shortly after producing music for local Chicago talent, Greystorm enhance his knowledge further by receiving a BA in 2018 at Illinois Institute of Art for Audio Production
In 2019 Jason worked at Periscope Post & Audio located near one of Chicago’s famous production houses Cinespace. His internship there helped him further nurture his passion for sound design and engineering.
Today Grey continues to make a powerful impact in the art community by continuing to produce creative and stylistic sound for music artists and filmmakers from all over.
